"What E're Thou Art" McKay Wood Plaque

"What E're Thou Art" McKay Wood Plaque

$99.00Price

Beautiful real wood plaque with the motto "What Ere Thou Art Act Well Thy Part" with accompanying magic square which relates to the saying.  This became the motto by which David O McKay chose to live his life from his days as a young missionary in Scotland to later becoming President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This is based off of the stone that once stood above a doorway in Sterling, Scotland where David O McKay first saw it.

Dimensions:

8"x10"x1"

Real hard wood, beautiful side profile edge and slot for hanging.

Also includes a complimentary token with the same phrase and magic square approximately the size of a quarter (see photo).

While a missionary in Scotland, David O. McKay had an experience that would influence him for the rest of his life...

Returning from a visit to Stirling Castle, he passed a building where a stone sculpture above a doorway caught his attention.  A carved inscription: "What-E'er Thou Art, Act Well Thy Part." This message struck David O. McKay forcefully, he then decided to devote himself completely to always doing his best in whatever responsibility he had. Aside from the motto engraved at the top, the symbols and shapes create an intriguing puzzle, when understood; give a whole new perspective to the powerful motto. See if you can figure it out!

Made in the U.S.A.
The actual stone is now on display in the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah.
