Sculpture Details:

The ancient hieroglyph known as Izapa Stela 5 depicts a representation of the Tree of Life. The original stone artifact located in the Izapa ruins of southern Mexico, was discovered in 1941 by M. Sterling of the Smithsonian. Ten years later, Professor Jakeman of BYU claimed it to be a representation of the “Tree of Life Vision” as described by the ancient Book of Mormon prophets Lehi and Nephi.
According to the LDS Church History Museum, former Church President, Howard W. Hunter kept a replica of Izapa Stela 5 on his desk.
